Da Vinci College in Dordrecht, the Netherlands free of SPAM and email problems with GWGuardian and TMD Informatisering!
Da Vinci College educates people from all different backgrounds, religions, ages and educational backgrounds cooperate and respect each other’s differences. This makes students and employees develop to the best of their abilities. The college consists of students and adults from different "categories", who are encouraged to take responsibility for their own educational process. IT plays an important role in what Da Vinci College calls competence-aimed education, because the participants need to access the local network night and day to enter their projects, files and email.
René Visser, Manager IT at Da Vinci College, explains what problems Da Vinci was faced with: "When the product we used for anti-spam and anti-virus went 'end-of-life', an alternative was offered to us by the provider. This offer was at a very unattractive price and we also wanted an in-house solution for better management."
With its IT-partner TMD Informatisering, Da Vinci College looked at several alternatives. Wim Timmer, Sales manager of TMD Informatisering, one of Messaging Architects' tier-one business partners in The Netherlands, tells us, "We had implemented GWGuardian from the Messaging Architects at a few other clients' sites and have always received great satisfaction. Da Vinci College was surprised about the price and spam catch rates of the product, which was way better than any of the other products they had tested so far. What was very important for the client was the fact that end-users didn't have to call the IT department to release emails they wanted to receive, which had been quarantined as spam."
Visser continues, "The use of the Quarantine reports is another great benefit from GWGuardian Because we wanted to customize the reports to give them our own Da Vinci look. So we created our own template, which works the same as the standard GWGuardian Quarantine reports but reflects the branding of our organization." An example of the "Da Vinci design" is shown below. *
Timmer of TMD Informatisering clarifies how the installation of GWGuardian took place: "We installed GWGuardian on one GWIA at a central location. The administrative environment uses GroupWise, the students work on NetMail. GWGuardian is mainly used by the administrative environment; however, we could put the NetMail users on the GWGuardian server, as well, should the client require it. The installation only took us a day."
René Visser concludes telling about his experience working with GWGuardian: "In November 2005 we updated GWGuardian to the then newly released version, GWGuardian 4.2. This version contains WebAccess support, which is very important for us because teachers primarily use WebAccess not only from their classrooms, but also frequently from home during vacations. This really helped us and GWGuardian has gained an even higher value for us!"
