M+Extranet Extends GroupWise Collaboration at Bath Public School Department

The Bath Public School Department is committed to providing a comprehensive education to the citizens of Bath from kindergarten through high school. The organization relies on Novell’s GroupWise for its messaging infrastructure, which extends collaboration across its users.

For the past 4 years, the school district has been using M+Extranet to publish district calendars and other relevant information and documents, thus making them readily accessible to both students and parents. "We began using M+Extranet as a tool to publish school calendars," explains Dean Emmerson, Director of Technology at the Bath Public School Department. "Now, however, we are hoping to take advantage of its various features to do much more. Teachers in the pilot program are looking forward to publishing materials needed for their curriculum, including attachments of reading materials and even parental permission forms, required for field trips and other extra-curricular activities. This functionality offers a great way for teachers to communicate with students and parents. If students are absent from school, they can quickly and easily see online what they have missed. We like the product a lot. In fact, at the beginning of this school year, the IT department will be offering a specialized M+Extranet course for teachers that will teach them how to use this product most efficiently for their needs. I recommend it to any school or academic institution, it’s a great way to get rid of the paperwork and work more efficiently in the academic environment."
