GWGuardian Solves the Spam and Virus Problems of Formal D

The Formel D group is an internationally working premium service provider for the automobile and supplier industries.  Formel D engages employees with 38 different nationalities. For over 10 years the company has been known as a competent full-service partner in the areas of creation and support of service processes, training for employees and business partners, quality operations for production processes, vehicle processing operations, and audio-visual knowledge and image transfer.

Dieter Eberz, IT coordinator at Formel D, tells us about the problems the company was facing: "We used to receive 2000 spam emails a day! Email messages sent to mail addresses that were no longer valid had to be separated manually. The problems we were facing took almost ten hours a week of the valuable time of our IT department. We really needed a solution that would diminish the administrative overhead. With the old product we were using, the IT Staff had to manually release emails out of the quarantine. We took the advice from our house supplier of ICT solutions, SystAG, and started testing GWGuardian."

Sybille Ott, Sales executive at SystAG, one of Messaging Architects' well respected business partners in Germany, tells us about the GWGuardian deployment at Formel D: "Our client contacted us with the request for a solid anti-spam and anti-virus solution that could address their needs. We had worked with Messaging Architects before and had already deployed GWGuardian into the messaging infrastructure of several other clients, who are getting excellent benefits from the product. We immediately suggested GWGuardian to Formel D and launched a pilot to evaluate the product."

Formel D tested GWGuardian and were happy surprised with the benefits. Eberz explains: "The ability for end users to create their own black and white lists is very valuable. It's also very beneficial that end users can release emails from the quarantine themselves."

After the pilot, the purchase of GWGuardian was a quick and easy decision. The IT department was satisfied with everything the product could do. The installation and basic configuration took no more than an hour. GWGuardian was installed in the world headquarters of the agency which has several offices in different locations.

"I would recommend GWGuardian to other organizations that need to eliminate spam and viruses from their email system without having to rely on their IT department to do it," Eberz continues. "Our IT staff can attest to the benefits of GWGuardian: since its implementation server performance has improved and the staff can now dedicate their time to other tasks. Because GWGuardian offers pre-authentication that’s compatible with GroupWise, the problem with invalid emails entering the email system and having to be separated manually is no longer an issue. The mail server and the internal network are relieved from having to process unwanted emails that never enter the system any more."

Eberz concludes, "We have been using GWGuardian for over a year now and needed to consult the Messaging Architects support engineers only once. The problem we had was solved quickly and satisfactorily. The time our IT department spends on GWGuardian administration and answering questions from employees was reduced from 10 to less than an hour a week! GWGuardian has proven to be really worth the investment. Currently, we have started a pilot for GWArchive, Messaging Architects’ solution for email archiving and retention. As our archiving needs continue to grow, we’re curious to discover how GWArchive will improve GroupWise performance by reducing the message store."
