M+Guardian: One of the Best Solutions for Our Academic Institution

"We use M+Guardian for spam and virus protection. I believe that this was one of the best solutions that we could come up as an academic institution. Since we installed the M+Guardian appliance, spam and viruses are no longer a problem for our users. I put it on the most extremely filtered setting for spam and don't worry that I have blocked mail that might be important to CSCC's users.  Viruses are blocked whether our virus scanner has the signatures or not.  They don't even enter our mail system.

One of M+Guardian's great features is the built-in quarantine manager that allows reports of spam caught to be sent out to users on a periodic basis. Within this college environment where censoring is not allowed, the quarantine reports are very useful. Users can inspect and release messages that they consider to have been falsely quarantined, though frankly speaking, most users just delete the reports as they know everything contained within is junk mail. For users that do not want email filtered, I just turn the filtering off and the server lets all mail through for that user. As GroupWise administrator my workload has decreased significantly because of this product."
