Mail Scope Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are the security implications and vulnerabilities of using Mail Scope?
A: Security is our main concern. The Mail Scope client collects information from the local server, encrypts, and then sends this information to our data center. It is then decrypted for analysis. This means that any information that travels across a network is encrypted.
Moreover, the Mail Scope client does not accept connections or commands, so it cannot be compromised or attacked from a network perspective. The client can only post information to corporate servers which are protected by various security measures. All communication between your browser and our portal server is provided via https so all the information viewed in the reports is also encrypted on its way back to you.
Q: Is anything pushed down to my server through the Mail Scope client?
A: No, the communication is one way only, where the client posts information to our servers. The client is not capable of receiving commands or even updates. Any updates have to be initiated by you on the respective server in conjunction with our technical team.
Q. What kind of information is collected by the Mail Scope client?
A. While the list may vary, the information gathered is GWGuardian-specific to provide our support staff with insight into your server in order to support and recover it from failure in the best and most efficientway. No information regarding your network, topology, business logic, or users is ever collected.
