Healthcare is in the news lately, and it has me thinking about managing health vs. managing pain. Say your knees are bothering you. A dose of Advil will relieve the pain, but a healthier diet and exercise will go a long way toward eliminating it: requires some work in the short-term, but smarter for the long-term.

IT projects can be the same. Take email migration, for example. Whether you're migrating to GroupWise or to Exchange, the process requires thought and planning. When migrating to a new platform, it's tempting to just buy a tool that injects all the data into the new email system. Yet, if you do this you'll end up with a lot of pain on the back-end. Costs, complications, and compliance issues are just a few of the problems you'll run into.

With M+Archive you only need to move relevant data; the bulk is stored in the archive, yet it is accessible to the users. When all is said and done, not only have you achieved the migration, but now you have a policy-driven, high-performing, compliant collaboration system. This is one of those rare cases in life where the right way to do it also happens to be the easier way to do it. Managing health, managing pain - you can do both!

Sincerely,

Charles Nguyen
