Messaging Architects takes on the Movember Challenge
Here at Messaging Architects, when we're not busy developing email archiving and security solutions or helping our clients migrate between email platforms, we always try to find time to give back to our community whenever possible. This year, we participated in the month of Movember.
"The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.
In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to Canada, the US, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland."
In early November of this year, Dan Bigras, a Technical Solutions Architect in the Messaging Architects head office in Montreal, channelled his inner Magnum PI and challenged his fellow Mo Bros to commit to growing a moustache for 30 days. Fourteen men, including our Chief Energizing Officer Pierre Chamberland, gladly took up the challenge and 1 brave Mo Bro even agreed to have his entire head shaved for the cause. It was a fun event that raised $2,156.00 for Prostate Cancer Canada before Messaging Architects matched employee donations dollar for dollar.
We are proud to announce that this year’s Canadian campaign raised over $19 million overall, and was #1 worldwide, beating out Australia (who came in at $18 million). Go Canada.
