Osterman Research announces results of new survey: "Trends & Choices: The Future according to GroupWise Users"

Montreal, Canada - August 11, 2010 - In the spring of 2010, Osterman Research conducted a survey among 700 IT professionals in mid-sized and large organizations as well as Novell partners. The survey, sponsored by Messaging Architects, was designed to provide insights and guidance to organizations and integrators who are faced with many questions about the future of Novell GroupWise and whether an email platform migration should be a priority.
Results show that 62% of respondents are planning to stay with the GroupWise messaging platform for the next 12-24 months and an additional 21% are considering this option, meaning that over 80% of the GroupWise installed base will likely stay put for the next year or so. However, the survey also revealed that 52% of these respondents have serious concerns about the level of commitment Novell has towards GroupWise. This is significant because users conduct long-range planning for their email and collaboration capabilities months or even years before commencing a migration effort.
Results of the research demonstrate that while GroupWise continues to be perceived as a price competitive, robust and secure messaging platform, there are many other factors – independent of the technical merits of GroupWise – that are prompting organizations to consider an email migration.
