Designer of CalDAV Joins Messaging Architects

Email Risk Management Leader Adds Calendaring Architect to Development Team

Montreal, Canada - January 26, 2009 - Messaging Architects, global experts in email risk management and compliance, today announced that Lisa Dusseault has joined the company as a Protocol Architect for Calendaring & Collaboration.

Ms. Dusseault is the designer of the CalDAV protocol, which provides interoperability for calendar access and sharing (www.caldav.org). She is also a recognized leader of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) efforts in protocol standardization, helping to drive innovation in the areas of Email, Calendaring, Instant Messaging, and shared authoring.

Ms. Dusseault is committed to true open standards, believing that these benefit both end users and vendors in a number of ways. “Users get a wider variety of software that are able to talk to their systems,” she commented, “and they also get a solid and interoperable standard that allows new or existing vendors to bring forward innovation instead of letting proprietary interfaces cause stagnation.”

Further, she advocates a demanding view of what defines an open standard. She stated, “The full meaning of ‘open’ implies not just ‘we published this’ but also that it's free to read, that implementation terms are license-free or at least well known, and that participation in the formation of the standard is also open.”

Ms. Dusseault is currently serving as the Applications Area Director for the IETF, overseeing a variety of protocols, specifications, and working groups that include Peer-to-Peer Traffic Optimization, Calendaring and Scheduling, and revising the HTTP protocol. Additionally, she has served as co-chair of the IMAP Extensions, Calendar Simplifications, WebDAV, and XMPP working groups and was a founding member of the CalConnect consortium.

“Lisa’s experience in developing globally-accepted standards for calendaring will ensure that Messaging Architects’ M+ platform will have the broadest level of integration and interoperability with both existing and future standards,” said Pierre Chamberland, CEO and Founder of Messaging Architects. “Email is broken in many, many ways - we have a plan to help fix it by delivering a truly scalable, open and risk-free Messaging + Calendaring platform. Lisa will play a key role in helping us achieve our goals.”

Prior to joining Messaging Architects, Ms. Dusseault was a Fellow at CommerceNet where, alongside her IETF work, she built automated visualization of large datasets into the OpenFindings project. Previously she was Standards Architect & Development Manager at the Open Source Applications Foundation, where she managed the Cosmo Calendar Server team. She began her career as a Program Manager at Microsoft, working on a number of projects including Exchange and Microsoft Internet Chat Server.
