Messaging Architects & Nexsan Combine Email Archiving and Secure Compliant Storage
SALT LAKE CITY, March 20, 2006 – Today at Novell BrainShare 2006, Nexsan Technologies and Messaging Architects announced a secure compliant email archiving solution that features Nexsan’s award winning Assureon secure storage system and Messaging Architects’ GWArchive, the leading email archiving software for Novell GroupWise Customers.

Nexsan’s Assureon system utilizes Content-Addressed Storage (CAS) technology, which reduces storage costs and capacity usage by eliminating all duplicate files (sometimes called single-instance storage).
"In an email archiving application, that can be significant," said Brendan Kinkade, vice president of marketing at Nexsan. "Very often we find the same email attachment being stored 50, 100 or even thousands of times within an organization. Assureon saves only one copy, potentially reducing the amount of storage by 30 to 60 percent." Assureon captures the emails on a real-time basis, eliminating the need to do a daily backup.
Messaging Architects' GWArchive is an enterprise-class solution for managing the archiving, retention, regulatory compliance and retrieval of email messages and other documents electronically stored in GroupWise mailboxes. GWArchive solves the problem facing regulated and non-regulated organizations of retaining, retrieving and reporting on electronic communications by providing a searchable, indexed archive of all GroupWise data for immediate monitoring, search and retrieval, 100 percent data retention, as well as easy centralized email retention administration through Novell eDirectory-enabled profile management.
As privacy regulations grow, so are the number of potential security breaches, especially when media is transported offsite.
Assureon includes the option to encrypt files as they come under management using 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm. Assureon is the only product currently available on the market that is able to automatically dispose of documents at the file level at the end of its retention period whether on magnetic disk, tape, WORM media or at an off-site location. The integrated solution manages the entire lifecycle of an email from creation to destruction.
Assureon is designed to grow as storage needs growth. Self-management capabilities reduce much of the add-on manpower typically needed to manage archived information. Self-diagnostic and self-healing capabilities are also built into Assureon, assuring a customer that the integrity of a file will be intact when they need it in the future.
